We will advise whether you will qualify for a Representation Order [Legal Aid] for matters before the Magistrates Court and Crown Court and help you to complete the application forms free of charge. You will be required to provide evidence of your income for the purpose of the assessment.
Clients facing proceedings before the Crown Court will automatically be eligible for Legal Aid. They will however be required to supply detailed information as to their income and capital in order that the Legal Aid Agency may determine whether they are required to make any contribution towards the costs of their defence. You will only be required to make a contribution if your income is above a certain level. We will advise you whether this is likely.
You will not have to pay towards the costs of your case if you are under 18 when you make your application of if you receive any of the following benefits; Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Guaranteed State Pension Credit or Income related Employment and Support Allowance.
